Fork Cartridge
Peened Bottom-Out

Featured, and special thanks to Master Suspension Technician and used-to-be-wanna-be-fireman-but-now-is-actually-a-fireman Alan "AJ" Peck.

CARTRIDGE DISASSEMBLY
Remove the Bottom-out Piston
Not Required for Gold Valve Installation
FD20- Remove the bottom out piston from the shaft. It is held onto the rod with peening over a circlip. To unpeen the piston and expose the circlip, clamp the damping rod firmly with the Shaft Holding Tool provided then using a piece of PVC hammer sharply downward.

FD21- The bottom out piston will have moved down exposing the circlip.

FD22- Remove the circlip.

FD23- Remove the bottom-out piston.

THE NEXT 5 STEPS ARE NOT REQUIRED IF YOU DIDN'T UNPEEN THE STOCK BOTTOM-OUT PISTON.
VC9- Install the bottom-out piston on the rebound rod.

VC10- Install the circlip into it's groove.

VC11- This is the RT Tool for re-peening the bottom-out piston. The end with the step on it is for unpeening while the tapered side is for re-peening.

VC12- Compression stack components laid out in order.

VC13- This is the stepped side used for removal.

VC14- Install the tool onto the shaft.

VC15- Use the same piece of PVC used tor removal to tap on the tool. The Piston should be supported by the clamp in the vise jaws. (Not as shown)
